Your baby can't tell you she's hungry. So take a look at these eight signs that it's time for a feed. Catching the early signs makes an easier and calmer feeding time for both of you, whether you're breastfeeding, formula feeding or mixed feeding.

8 signs your baby is hungry
Newborns need to feed often.One to six hours between feeds is normal.
If you can spot the early signs, feeding will be calmer.
Early signs:
- licking lips when stirring from sleep
- sucking at hands, tongue, feet or clothes
- mouth opening and closing
- turning head (also called ‘rooting’)
Your baby may not have all of them!
Getting hungrier:
- head bobbing
- fussing
- moving head frantically
Too late!
- crying
It’s harder to feed a baby who is crying.
Look out for the signs.
