Young babies swallow air while feeding. And may need to be burped.
Protect your shoulder with a cloth.
Hold your baby so her chin is resting on your shoulder.
Pat or rub.
Make sure your baby can breathe comfortably.
A variation: move your baby up so your shoulder presses lightly on her belly. Pat or rub.
#2: Sitting burp
Protect your lap with a cloth.
Sit your baby on your lap facing sideways.
Support your baby's face (not throat).
Pat and rub.
#3: Belly burp
Protect your lap with a cloth.
Lay your baby face down on your legs.
Support your baby's face with one hand.
Pat and rub.
No burp? Try a different position.
Don't worry. Some babies need to be burped. Others, not so much.
